Queer Propaganda

Queer Propaganda was chosen as the 2025 Out On Film theme as a bold, tongue-in-cheek reclamation of language historically used to undermine and demonize queer existence. Rather than distancing ourselves from the accusation, the theme leaned into it by framing queer joy, visibility, storytelling, and community as something powerful, intentional, and worth broadcasting. Aesthetically, the campaign drew from the visual language of protest posters, zines, agitprop, and underground print culture. It blended high-contrast color, graphic typography, and layered textures to evoke urgency and collective action. The result was a cohesive visual system that felt unapologetic, confrontational, and celebratory, turning so-called “propaganda” into a declaration of pride, resistance, and queer truth.
